Each year 6th class participate in the Edmund Rice Awards Project. This project encourages the pupils to follow in the spirit of Edmund Rice by helping out at home, in school and in the community. Some of the activities they participated in this year included running in the Goal Mile on Christmas Day, singing for the elderly residents in Birr Hospital, participating in local sporting events, producing a booklet on Birr Hurling and contributing to the Vincent de Paul food collection. This year the pupils presented a D.V.D about how the work of Edmund Rice is still being carried on in the school. Sixth class filmed, narrated, played the music, edited and produced the film.A speaker from Grenada also spoke of how Edmund Rice had influenced his life.
