On Friday the 27th of May we held our first ever music Day. The day was an acknowledgement of the tremendous work being done by our Parents’ Association in supporting music in the school. It was also an opportunity for our pupils to demonstrate their musical skills, singing talents and performing expertise. The large turnout of parents were treated to singing, tinwhistle playing and a vast variety of tunes. Guest artists included Bernadette Spain, members of the teaching staff and we were delighted to see Mr. O Connor back with past pupils all performing on the day. Great credit is due to Miss. Majella Killeen for raising the standards of music in the school and we hope that initiatives like this will inspire and encourage our pupils to develop a love of music and inspire them to develop their musical talents.

Ms. Mulqueens class visited Kiloscully Working Farm. They were able to see how a farm operates, the animals on the farm and even got to do some of the farm work. The owners gave them all the information about the farm and answered all the questions about the animals. The boys really had a great day and loved getting to play with all the animals. The trip was a great success. Well done to all involved.

Twenty six athletes from St. Brendan’s travelled to Tullamore to compete in the outdoor athletics competitions. They availed of the top class facilities in the Tullamore Harriers stadium. The events included 60m, 80m, hurdles, long jump, ball throw, 600m and the evening ended in great excitment with the relay events. The boys had the opportunity of getting great advice from Two time Olympian James Nolan. All the boys really enjoyed the day. They were all presented with a medal for participating and many of the boys won gold, silver and bronze medals in their respective events.
