Nov 2011 Community School Show

December 13, 2011

A group of pupils went as a school group to see this year’s show in the Community School entitled Joseph. The boys enjoyed the show with their classmates and were able to see many past pupils performing on the stage. We hope it will inspire them to be on the same stage in years to come. Congratulations to Daryl Lally who was a prizewinner in the Art Competition.

Nov 2011 Dublin Visit

Mr. Carroll’s and Mr. Kennedy’s classes  visited Kilmainham Jail in Dublin, The trip was a great success with the boys getting a hands on opportunity to learn about the history of that period. They visited the museum and the jail and later visited the nearby attractions of  Dublin Zoo and the 7 up Winter Wonderland Ice Rink.

Nov 2011 The Excellent Factor

Congratulations to Campbell Boyd on being a prize winner in the Excellent Factor talent competition. Campbell played the guitar and sang and got through successive rounds to reach the final where he finished in fourth place. A great performance Campbell. We hope he will inspire other talented singers and musicians to follow along the same path.

Nov 2011 Hurling Blitz

Mr. Kennedy brought our u/13 Hurlers to a Hurling Blitz in Shinrone. They performed very well on the day and represented our school with pride and distinction.

Nov 2011 Prayer Service

Early in November we held our Prayer Service to remember friends , family and relatives who have passed away. Each class wrote the name of a loved one on a paper candle and the candles were then displayed at the service. The boys read prayers and sang hymns on the day in memory of the people who have passed on.

Nov 2011 Gymnastics

Under the expert tuition of Emer Feehan our Gymnastics programme was up and running again this year. The boys enjoyed showing off the skills they had already learned and also learning some new skills. They participated in some free movement doing rolls and tumbles and also performed some gymnastic exercises on the horse, high bars and ladders. It was wonderful to see such a range of movement from the boys. The pupils were able to demonstrate their skills in a gymnastics display performed in front of other classes.

Nov 2011 Pottery

December 13, 2011

This year again our pupils were able to participate in Pottery classes. The pupils enjoyed moulding the clay into the various shapes and being showed how pottery is shaped and made. Their creations will be fired and kiln dried to put the finishing seal on their efforts. The project was enjoyed by al the pupils who participated.
