Our Sports Day was a great success again this year. The mixed ability groups enjoyed participating in all the various sporting activities. The Br. Finian Cup ( 6th class long race ) was won by Alex Sadowski. Well done to Mrs. Lonergan for all the organising. Our Parents’ Association ran a wonderful Cake Sale on the same day. There was a large variety of cakes and buns on display. Many thanks to all who contributed and supported this wonderful project. We also had the Green Flag Ceremony to finish off our day. (more…)

Our Fruit Scheme is up and runing again this year. Thanks to Margaret Teehan and her team of volunteer parents for keeping the scheme running so well. We were delighted to have some new help this year. Many thanks to all involved.

On Thursday 28th of November some members of the Parents Council gave a presentation to all the children on a ‘Healthy Lunchbox’. The children listened to a talk about what they should include in their lunchbox i.e. carbohydrate, protein, calcium, fruit and vegetables and drinks. They also got to taste sandwiches that were made on both brown and white bread and had different sort of fillings like salmon and tomato ketchup or apple and cheese slaw. They were also invited to taste carrot sticks, celery, yellow & red peppers as well as some fruit. A leaflet was handed out to all children giving them lunchbox ideas and recipes. If you didn’t get a copy of the leaflet it can be downloaded here. Healthy Eating Leaflet

Our entry into the “Garden Makeover Competition caused great excitement in our school and in the wider community. The pupils and parents really got behind the project and represented our school very well both on television and radio. We were unlucky on the day but did win €1000 to help start off our garden. Many thanks to pupils and parents for all the work involved.
